Sept 10-11 2011: Mt Whitney Summit hike from Whitney Portal

This hike will begin at the Whitney Portal (8360') near Lone Pine, CA.  This journey will travel west, up the Mt Whitney trail on Sept 10. 
The plan is to summit Mt Whitney (14,500') on the morning of Sept 11 and then return that day back down the same trail to Whitney Portal.  This hike will take 2 days/1 night and cover 22 miles.

Sept 7 - 9, 2011: John Muir Trail (JMT) Segment: Kearsarge Pass to Mt Whitney

This hike began in Onion Valley near Independence CA.  The journey headed west over Kearsarge Pass, joined the John Muir Trail, and then headed south towards the west face of Mt Whitney.  The plan was to summit Mt Whitney on the morning of Sept 11 and then exit east to Whitney Portal near Lone Pine, CA.  This hike was to take 5 days/4 nights and cover 45 miles. The weather thought otherwise.

Completed! July 27-29, 2011: John Muir Trail (JMT) Segment: Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park to Agnew Meadows in Mammoth

Banner Peak and 1,000 Island Lake

This hike joined the John Muir Trail in the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park.  The journey headed south for 29 miles to Agnew Meadows near Mammoth Lakes.
